The Mesoamerican/Belize Barrier Reef is the largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere and the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world,  behind the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.  The Mesoamerican Reef is over 700 miles long and houses a vast array of game fish, shorebirds and other marine life such as marine turtles and sharks.

Even avid flats fishermen will tell you that spending a day fishing the reef is an adventure that you will not want to pass up.   Using light tackle and live bait we target:

  • Snapper
  • Cudas
  • Jacks
  • Grouper

This is a trip that everyone in the family will enjoy as it combines outstanding fishing with other activities  such as snorkeling, swimming, and a beach BBQ that make this a day to remember.  Unless other arrangements are made this will be a private charter and the boat and captain are at your beck and call all day.

Typically your captain will meet you at the boat just after breakfast for a quick XX minute voyage to the reef.   Upon arriving your task will be to catch what the captain will prepare for that day’s lunch.  The reef is teaming with fish,  so this is not a difficult task.  There is nothing better than fresh grilled fish after fishing all morning.

The fish on the reef tend to be aggressive and full of fight.   Both experienced fishermen and those new to the sport will enjoy the action.  It is the perfect first fishing experience for kids and is something that you will all remember for years to come.

Fresh Ceviche!

Around noon, remember you are on island time,  the captain will start preparing the fish and other accompaniments for the BBQ.   The fish will be cleaned and grilled to perfection.  If you have never had fresh grilled fish on a sandy beach you are in for a real treat.

Sample Menu:

Fresh Ceviche for your appetizer
Fresh Grilled Fish
Fresh Fruit
Rice and Beans

As lunch is winding down the captain will ask you what you would like to do for the afternoon.  You can continue to fish,  go sightseeing or snorkel and swim, go watch the Dolphins, Manatgee, Bird Watching

Are there popular places on the reef we want to mention by name? Hol Chan Marine preserve, Mexico Rocks, and Shark/Ray Alley

In the late afternoon the captain will take you back to the island where you can then get ready for your evenings activities.
