Bonefish
The bread and butter of the flats. This is how you prepare for the big leagues. Even though they are the easiest to catch, our bones will still challenge the seasoned angler. Many shots at schools as well as tailers ensure that nearly everyone can get their fill of bonefish. If you want a challenge, search out the big singles and doubles cruising the edges of flats. We definitely offer world class bone fishing here in San Pedro.
Tarpon
Well known as a tarpon fishery, many of the docks nearby have tarpon roaming them day and night. With fish in the 20-50 pound range frequently roaming the flats and channels and adult fish in the 50 to 100 pound range migrating through the area during the summer.
Permit
The Holy Grail of saltwater fly fishing. These fish test your skills, your wit and your will. With great numbers of permit traveling the waters that surround our lodge you will likely have multiple shots and see multiple schools….in a single day! However don’t think that it will be easy; they are still permit after all.
Belize …. A Fishermens Paradise
Belize is one of the most remarkable fishing destinations in the world. The fishing is spectacular no matter what time of year you visit.
Belize is well know for its Flats Fishing for Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit but Belize also offers amazing Deep Sea fishing and Reef fishing.
Deep sea fishing offers bill fishing along with Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo and many more species of fish that like the deeper waters.
Belize has the second longest barrier reef in the world and it offers some great bottom fishing for Jacks and Barracuda, just to name a few. If you opt for a full day of reef fishing make sure you ask for the BBQ lunch option. Your captain will prepare you a fresh seafood lunch that you will be talking about for years to come.
For the adventurous you can also book a Spear Fishing Trip or a Night Fishing Trip. Spear fishing gets you up close and personal with your quarry and is very popular.
What Our Anglers Are Saying
The fishing was incredible and the guides that Blue Bonefish provide are top shelf. No only do they put you on fish, they teach you how to catch them with respect to seeing the fish, casting, choosing the right fly and where to find them. Whether you’re new to fishing the salt or a seasoned fisherman you will not be disappointed. There are large expansive flats, sheltered bays and mangroves within minutes of the lodge where you can catch tarpon, bonefish, snook and permit.
While I’ve never stayed here, I’ve fished with James twice – both times were unforgettable and won’t be the last! He’s always really knowledgeable about what to catch where, what exactly comes out of the water, responsible fishing (he isn’t afraid to say a catch is too small and to put it back) and gives tips and tricks to losing less catches. There’s always enough fish to go around for the entire group, which is of course, the icing on the cake to be able to eat your catch! Every time I’m in San Pedro, I most look forward to fishing with him.
